I use a wide variety of warm ups. Medball, bodyweight, light plate, "heavy" plate, jumprope, etc. I cycle through them at will:)
It just so happened that we had an upper body emphasis workout that day so I wanted to make certain their shoulders were nice and warm. So I combined a basic plate shoulder warm up with some lower body exercises to get the job done.
In all of our warm-ups I try to incorporate different types of balance/body control and mobility. Regardless of the “emphasis” that day (upper or lower) we address the whole body but put special emphasis on the “hot spots” of the particular day. This might be scap muscles & rotator cuffs if we have an upper body day and paraspinals, hips on lower body day. I hope that makes sense.
As for exercise selection during warm ups…I go by feel. What does the workout require…what does the athlete require…what do I require.
That's a great video!
Any specific reason why you use this warm-up?
